Alejo Little’s last Instagram post was a promise to himself. “Happy Birthday Alejo,” he wrote on 10 February.

“I promise you that next year will be just as you dreamed, with those who are saving you today.”

There will not be a next year. The Colombian influencer, whose real name was David Alejandro Peláez Marín, has died at the age of 33.

The exact cause of death has not been reported.

‘Nothing has been too big for me’

Little stood at just under three feet tall. He had skeletal dysplasia, a genetic condition that affects bone development and growth.

His TikTok bio read: “I’m 90cm tall and nothing has been too big for me.”

He built a following of nearly four million on TikTok and 300,000 on Instagram by mixing humorous videos about his condition with more serious content about the bullying he experienced growing up.

He also worked as a graphic designer and motivational speaker, based in his home city of Medellín.

In recent months, followers had noticed him using supplemental oxygen during livestreams.

He mentioned he was going through a medical process but did not say what the diagnosis was.

His final message, posted on his 33rd birthday, carried a weight that is difficult to read back now.

“I thought my 33rd birthday was going to be different, but it wasn’t,” he wrote.

“I only ask life to let me be myself again, to find meaning in my days again, and for my mind to be healthy so I can continue helping others despite my loneliness.”

He thanked what he called his small support network. “The best one, the one that is saving me.”

He did not post again.

‘I will remember you in every achievement’

Little was buried in Medellín, where he had spent most of his life and career.

A family member posted a tribute: “I love you and will always love you. Every achievement in my life will be for you.

I feel a great emptiness of my life. I will miss you every day and I will remember you in every achievement and with every laugh.”

Why it matters

Little’s final post is the kind of thing that gets shared millions of times after someone dies, read with a meaning the author could not have fully intended.

But what made his account matter before that last message was the consistency of what he built. Nearly four million people followed a man who was three feet tall and refused to treat that as a limitation.

His content about bullying reached people who needed it. His humour reached people who did not know they needed it.

The audience was not there out of pity. It was there because he was good at what he did.

He asked life to let him be himself again. The fact that he phrased it that way suggests he already knew something was slipping.

Medellín buried one of its most visible creators this month. The comments under his last post are still growing.
