A groundsman in southern Germany pushed a lining machine along the 18-yard box on Saturday afternoon, carefully marking out the penalty area.
The match had already kicked off. Both teams were on the pitch.
He did not look up for some time.

The kick-off he missed
The clip comes from SV Bohlingen II against SV Gailingen, played at 12.30pm on Saturday 19 September in Kreisliga C Bodensee, an amateur division around Lake Constance.
Bohlingen II won 4-3, as reported by Creatorzine.
Footage shows the groundsman working his way steadily along the white lines while 22 players get on with the game around him.
A television voiceover picked up the moment with the tone of someone slowly realising what he is watching.
“He’s going over the lines of the 18-yard box and getting it ready.”
Then the follow-up: “Why are both teams already on the pitch?”
The sprint
Play drifted towards the penalty area and the groundsman finally clocked it.
He bolted for the touchline, dragging the lining machine behind him like a man who had just remembered leaving the oven on.
The narrator called it the oddest moment of the game. Given the match finished 4-3, that is saying something.
Local reports said the groundsman was taken by surprise.
Neither club has commented on the lining job.
Two village clubs, one very fresh penalty box
Bohlingen II is the reserve side of SV Bohlingen 1949, a village club from Singen on the German shore of Lake Constance.
Gailingen sit a little way up the Rhine, close to the Swiss border.
Neither is used to an audience beyond the people standing by the fence with a beer.
They have one now.
Why It Matters
Amateur football has become one of the most reliable sources of viral sport content, and none of it is planned.
A groundsman with a paint machine has no content strategy, no posting schedule and no idea a camera is running.
That is exactly why the clip travels.
Audiences have grown fluent in spotting the difference between a moment that happened and a moment that was set up, and the gap between the two keeps widening.

The supply is endless because the mistakes are endless.
Whether the groundsman ever finds out how far the video went is a separate question.
