She told the officer she felt unwell, so he let her sit in the back of his patrol car while his colleagues dealt with the wreckage.
Minutes later, that same car held a 9mm pink pistol nobody could account for.
Nicole Gabriela Verón was a passenger in a 420hp BMW M on Wednesday night when, prosecutors say, it set off a chain-reaction crash on the Riccheri Highway near Ezeiza, Argentina.
Two other vehicles were caught up in it.
The collision threw 48-year-old Hugo Javier López from his pickup truck, and he died at the scene.
Three women were in the BMW.

When Federal Police arrived, Verón went up to one of the officers and said she wasn’t well.
He sat her in the back of the patrol car and went to help the victims and secure the road.
The gun in the back seat
When officers came back to the car, they found a pistol allegedly tucked inside it.
A 9mm Bersa, eight rounds in the magazine.
Loaded.
Prosecutors charged Verón with illegal possession of a military-grade firearm, according to CreatorZine.

A search of the BMW, now seized, turned up a grinder with traces of marijuana and a strip of appetite-stimulant medication.
A separate investigation has opened into whether anything linked to drug trafficking was going on.
Prosecutors in Ezeiza are still working out how the crash happened in the first place.
From the force to OnlyFans
Verón was a City of Buenos Aires police officer until she was expelled for selling sexual content on OnlyFans, local media reports.

The woman behind the wheel was reportedly Janine Sochas, another young creator who produces adult content.
A £63,000 car and £270 of unpaid fines
The BMW is said to be worth 85,000 USD (£63,168).
It also carries an outstanding debt of 522,000 ARS (£270) to the City Government, run up through six speeding fines in the past two months.
The original total topped 1m ARS (£517).
Why It Matters

OnlyFans has become a familiar second act for people leaving conventional jobs, and the gap between creator and former employer keeps producing headlines.
Police forces have had a particularly hard time deciding what to do with officers who sell adult content, and dismissals like Verón’s no longer surprise anyone.
Forces from the US to the UK to Argentina have disciplined or sacked officers over OnlyFans accounts in recent years, almost always on conduct grounds rather than anything criminal.
It isn’t clear whether any of the three women are in custody or have been bailed.
Two investigations are now running at once, and the pink pistol is the part nobody can explain yet.
