Max has hitched a lift to Luton and walked down the aisle at a stranger’s wedding without an invitation.
Six weeks ago the seven-year-old tabby headed out of the house as usual.
Nobody has confirmed a sighting since.

The last confirmed sighting put him near All Saints Church in Brightlingsea, Essex, at the beginning of July.
Days earlier he had lost the tracker clipped to his collar somewhere in heavy undergrowth.
Owner Georgie Dunt searched, failed to find it, ordered a replacement. Max left before she could fit it.
Six weeks, and not one confirmed sighting
Georgie didn’t panic. Max going missing is not news in Brightlingsea.
“I wasn’t worried at first; it’s typical of him to go off wandering for days at a time,” Georgie told Creatorzine.
“After two weeks had passed with no one having seen him, I decided to put a post up on his page saying that we were getting worried.”
The page is Max’s Missions, where more than 6,000 people follow his movements, including fans in Australia and New Zealand.
The appeal picked up over 1,000 shares. Georgie expected a photo within hours.
Six weeks on, she is still waiting.
The cat with his own calendar and no concept of trespass
Max has starred in a calendar. He also has a habit that would land a human in court.
“He’s a very friendly and entitled boy and will often just jump onto people’s shoulders for a hug or let himself into people’s houses and curl up on their bed like he owns the place,” Georgie said.
“He loves playing with dogs too, so he’s often spotted playing in people’s gardens wrestling with dogs.”
Ipswich, Luton and one wedding procession
The vehicles are the real problem. Max climbs into them, and he has ended up in Ipswich and Luton as a result.
The Luton trip meant a drive for Georgie after a family found him, assumed he was homeless and kept him.
They eventually took him to a vet, whose microchip scanner showed he had already been reported missing.
Another time, a photograph of Max wrestling a Staffordshire bull terrier in someone’s garden reached a woman in Hartlepool.
She recognised him and messaged Georgie with his location.
Then there was the wedding.
“The funniest thing was seeing him invite himself to a wedding and walk down the aisle during the wedding procession,” Georgie said.
“Fortunately, they were all Max fans.”
Why strangers keep writing to Georgie about him
The comedy explains the follower count. It doesn’t explain the messages.
People write to Georgie to say Max turned up at the worst moment of their lives.
“My favourite thing about him is when I get messages from people saying that Max appeared out of nowhere at their lowest point or when they were feeling lost or hurting mentally,” she said.
“Max has comforted people after they have lost someone.
“He spent a long time lying with a lady who was on end-of-life care, and he spent days with a family after they had suffered a family loss.
“He just seems to appear when someone is in need of a reminder of how precious and beautiful life can be.”
Every message, a heart skip
The search has spread well past Essex. Georgie has posted in missing-cat groups across the country, and Max’s disappearance has run on local television and radio.
Possible sightings arrive constantly. None of them have been him.
“I’m trying to stay busy and not think too much about it, as it’s made me so sick with worry in the past,” she said.
“I try not to let my mind wander too much about where he could be.
“I’ve had a lot of similar-looking missing cats sent to me, which naturally makes me hopeful before realising it can’t be him. Every message I get, my heart skips a beat.”
Why It Matters
Max is a small argument against strategy. Six thousand people follow a cat because he keeps doing things, and because the woman posting about him isn’t performing for anyone.
When he vanished, that audience became a search party across three continents inside a fortnight.
Plenty of creators with far bigger numbers couldn’t get 1,000 shares out of their following if they asked directly.
Animal pages have quietly become one of the steadier corners of the creator economy, less dependent on the person behind the account and less exposed to a platform’s mood.
The catch is that the talent is a living animal who cannot be booked in.
Georgie has a new collar and tracker waiting for him.
“Part of me would crack up laughing at the audacity of him for doing this to me and everybody else – again!” she said.
“I would wonder where on earth he’d been before sticking his new collar and tracker on and welding it in place.
“The relief of him coming back would be the world to me.”
Anyone in Brightlingsea who has recently found a strange tabby asleep on their bed should probably go and look again.
