Vannessa Papa went to Indiana to see where her friend grew up.
She came home with two criminal charges, a court appearance and, by her own account, memories.
Booked before sunrise
Terre Haute City Police and Indiana State Police pulled the 35-year-old over in the early hours of Saturday 24 October, as reported by Creatorzine.

Jail records show officers booked her at 3:53am.
She faces two charges: operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .10 or more, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person.

No court has convicted her of either.
By 11am she had walked out, released on her own recognisance.
Two days later, on Monday 26 October, she appeared at a pre-trial hearing.
A night out in Ashley Johnson’s hometown
Papa, who starred in Netflix’s The Ultimatum: Queer Love, had reportedly spent the night before partying in Terre Haute with co-star Ashley Johnson.

The pair appeared together on social media hours before the arrest.
Terre Haute is Johnson’s hometown. Papa had come to see it.
The Instagram post that didn’t help
Papa has not addressed the arrest directly. She did, however, post this to her 97,600 Instagram followers:
“Came to Indiana to see Ash’s hometown, left with…memories.”

Her followers had their own reading of the ellipsis.
“Why would your friends let you drive after drinking in the first place? Ever heard of Uber,” wrote one.

Another said: “I used to be a big fan, I just don’t think drunk driving is funny or should ever be taken lightly.”
A third went straight for the caption: “‘Left with memories’ is a weird way to say ‘put people in danger’.”
Someone else kept it brief. “Left with a DUI, congratulations.”

Why It Matters
Reality TV hands people an audience without handing them a communications team.
Papa’s post reads like an attempt at wry self-awareness, and her followers took it as a shrug.

For anyone whose income depends on an audience’s goodwill, the lesson is old but apparently still needs repeating: a wink about something that endangered other people rarely lands as a wink.
The bigger picture
Dating show alumni increasingly build careers on the followings they leave with, through brand deals and sponsored posts.
That makes the comment section a kind of jury, and this one has already delivered its verdict.
What happens next
The case continues in Indiana.
Whether Papa offers her followers anything more than a caption is another matter.
