A billboard on one of the most photographed streets in America has stopped people in their tracks – and not for the reasons advertisers usually hope.
An advert for JustSext, a platform that builds AI replicas of adult content creators, appeared on Sunset Boulevard this week, drawing immediate reactions from locals and racking up thousands of views after clips circulated through viral meme accounts online.

Standing out on the Strip
Sunset Boulevard’s billboard real estate is typically occupied by studio tentpoles and luxury brands.
This one was different. The display featured two AI-generated models, and commenters online were quick to identify them as digital likenesses of adult creators Sophie Dee and Lena the Plug.
Images spread fast. Within hours, posts across social media had accumulated thousands of likes and shares, pulling in reactions that ranged from amused to furious.
“Cute robots,” wrote one commenter.

“What a country,” said another.
‘Cover the children’s eyes’
Not everyone found it funny. Several residents raised concerns about the billboard’s location on a heavily trafficked public street.
“Should be illegal to display this,” one person wrote.
A local went further: “Can’t walk down there without covering the children’s eyes.”

Calls for tighter regulation of public advertising followed quickly in the comments.
What JustSext actually does
The company behind the ad lets adult creators deploy AI versions of themselves to interact with fans via text or voice.
The technology retains memory of past conversations and adapts over time, building what the platform describes as a personalised experience.
It is one of several services positioning AI as a way for creators to scale their audience engagement without being personally present for every interaction – a model that has attracted both significant investment and significant criticism across the industry.
Why it matters

The billboard captures a tension the creator economy hasn’t resolved: AI replica technology is developing faster than the regulatory frameworks meant to govern it, and the public is increasingly encountering that gap in places they didn’t expect.
What happens on subscription platforms is one conversation.
What appears at eye level on one of the world’s most famous streets is another.
Advertising regulators in both the US and UK have been under pressure to clarify what standards apply to AI-generated content in public spaces.
This billboard will not make that conversation quieter.
Watch for whether JustSext faces formal complaints – and whether the ad stays up.
