Two children, aged six and seven, opened a low cupboard beside the bed in their holiday caravan and found loose white tablets inside.
Then they screamed for their mum.
Imogen, 30, says she left Littlesea Holiday Park near Weymouth ahead of schedule after the discovery.

She has spent the days since posting photos and video from inside the caravan on TikTok, where she says the clips have passed 120,000 views.
The cupboard nobody checked
Imogen and her two children arrived at the Dorset park on Friday 14 August.
She says the caravan was already a problem before the tablets turned up: dead insects, cobwebs, a dirty fridge, debris across the floor, marks down the cupboard doors.
She complained through the Haven app and a cleaner came back, which ate a chunk of the first day.
She also reported a broken kitchen kickboard, a broken bin lid, a curtain rail and a gate.
A maintenance worker attended on the Friday and could not fix the gate.
Another returned the next day and did.
Then the children opened the bedside cupboard.
“Finding those tablets made my blood run entirely cold,” Imogen said.
“If either of my children had mistaken those white pills for sweets and swallowed them, it could have caused a catastrophic medical emergency.”
Neither child swallowed anything. Imogen removed the tablets, photographed them and handed them in at reception.
What the pills might have been
One capsule-shaped tablet in her photographs carries the imprint XR 1000.
That marking appears on some 1,000mg extended-release metformin products, a widely prescribed type 2 diabetes medication.
Nobody has tested the tablets from the caravan or identified them conclusively, so what they actually were is still unknown.
UK medicines guidance says a large metformin overdose can cause lactic acidosis, a medical emergency needing hospital treatment.
Imogen says her son also developed a rash on his neck during the stay, which she blames on the state of the accommodation.
“The hygiene standards were so appalling that my son broke out in a physical skin rash on his neck,” she said. No doctor has established a cause.
‘But your children didn’t take them’
Reception apologised when she handed the pills over, Imogen says.
Then she heard nothing more until she spoke to a manager the following day.
During that conversation, she alleges, the manager told her: “But your children didn’t take them.”
She says she asked for the discovery to be recorded as a health and safety incident and got the reply: “I won’t be doing that as I don’t need to.”
“Haven’s safety standard shouldn’t depend on whether a child is actively in hospital before an incident is taken seriously,” she said.
She says she felt “cornered” into verbally accepting a 50 per cent refund during that exchange, then wrote to Haven afterwards rejecting any suggestion her complaint had been settled.
She left the park at about 4.15pm on Sunday 16 August.
“I fled the park to protect my family’s health,” she said.
Haven tells it differently
Mateusz Dolata, general manager at Littlesea, apologised in an email seen by Creatorzine.
“A prescription tablet should never have been left in a holiday home and I am truly sorry for this,” he wrote.
His account then parts company with hers. Dolata said staff disposed of the tablets appropriately and logged the incident on the company system so it could be investigated.
He said Imogen accepted a 50 per cent refund worth £320 and stayed at the park until Sunday evening.
Imogen disputes that she ever accepted it as a resolution.
On how the cupboard came to be missed, Dolata said the Friday had been exceptionally hot and cleaning teams were working in “very challenging conditions”.
He called that a possible explanation and “not an excuse”, and said the company had followed it up with the employee concerned and would use it to reinforce checks across its holiday homes.
“I am genuinely sorry for the distress and worry caused and I completely appreciate why finding medication in your accommodation would have been particularly upsetting as a parent,” he added.

Ten years ago this story ends at the reception desk.
A verbal apology, a partial refund, a form nobody files.
Now the guest has a camera, a caption and an audience, and footage of the cupboard reaches six figures before the operator has finished drafting an email.
Complaint content performs. It costs nothing to make, it travels further than the brand’s own marketing, and the platform rewards exactly the kind of specificity that a formal complaints process is built to smooth over.
Every hospitality operator in Britain now runs two customer service departments, and only one of them is staffed.
Holiday park footage has become its own TikTok genre, sitting alongside hotel room inspections and airline seat reviews, and August is peak season for the holidays and the videos alike.
Imogen says she has lost all faith in Haven Holidays.
She is also still posting. The thing to watch is whether that internal log Haven says it created ever produces anything she actually hears about.
